About the Item
A near-abstract figure stands centrally against a dense midnight-blue field that has been worked with scrubbed and stippled strokes. Its head is a pale oval, and from the shoulders fall broad angular planes of colour - saffron and old gold, wine red, black and white - fanning out like sleeves, wings or a dancer's skirts, each panel scored with fine parallel hatching. The surface is heavily textured throughout, half painted and half scraped. Presented under a wide tan-gold mat in a dark wood frame with a gilt inner edge. Medium: gouache or acrylic on paper or board, heavily textured. Signed lower right of the image, in reddish-brown. Condition: No visible damage; mat clean; strong reflections on the glass.
