About the Item
An extremely wide panoramic composition in which a line of hunched figures in grey overcoats and caps pedal from left to right; their bodies are painted as soft, almost photographic grey masses while the bicycles are reduced to bold, hand-drawn red circles and lines that float over them. The ground shifts from a warm blush pink at the right to a deep navy band at the left, with drifting shadows beneath the riders. The contrast of muted figures against graphic red linework gives the image a witty, poster-like rhythm. Pencil signed, titled and numbered in the wide bottom margin. Medium: limited-edition lithograph or serigraph on paper. Signed lower right margin, in pencil. Edition: 40/125. Inscribed on the reverse or mount: The Road to Paradise.; 40/125. Condition: Sheet and mat look clean and bright with no foxing visible. Strong reflections on the glass throughout.
