About the Item
An intimate tonal still life: a squat lidded bowl in warm cream and grey sits centre-left, its knob catching the light, with two or three small orange fruits and one green leaf arranged around its base. The background is worked in dry, dragged strokes of dove grey, pale blue and cream that read as a studio wall rather than a described space. Everything is held in a narrow tonal band so that the orange fruits carry all the colour weight. The canvas weave shows through the thinner passages and the paint is applied softly, with no heavy impasto. Medium: oil on canvas. Signed lower right of the canvas, in dark cursive. Condition: No visible damage, craquelure or losses; the frame is intact with light handling marks.
