About the Item

A boldly graphic Santa Fe style composition. A seated figure wrapped in a striped serape of gold, purple and rust leans forward beneath a wide green hat trimmed with a feather; a smaller wrapped figure rests against them. Behind, purple and magenta mesas rise into a lilac and gold sky, with an adobe wall and a dark window at the right. The whole image is enclosed by a painted geometric border of turquoise, terracotta and blue Southwestern banding, and a stylised flower motif sits at the foot. Flat unmodelled colour and heavy black contour lines throughout, with faint dot structure visible in the graded passages. Cream mount inside a chunky off-white painted frame under glass. Medium: offset lithograph or colour reproduction on paper. Signed lower left within the image, in dark cursive over the purple robe. Condition: The painted frame is chipped and scuffed along the outer edges and at the corners, with a small dark mark on the top rail. Dust and glare on the glass. The image itself shows no fading or foxing.
