About the Item
A boldly painted still life in which oranges and a single bright yellow lemon sit in a blue-rimmed bowl above a table crowded with an orange-filled jar, a striped tumbler and a glass bowl with a spoon laid across it. The palette is dominated by saturated orange, cobalt and teal against olive and grey-green shadows. Handling is broad and opaque, with visible directional brushwork and unmodulated colour blocks that flatten the forms in a modernist manner. Medium: oil on canvas. Condition: No visible damage, tears or losses; some surface sheen in the photographs. The reverse and the canvas edges were not shown.
