· mid to late 20th century
Price Upon Request

About the Item
A muddy country lane recedes into the middle distance, its puddles catching pale sky light in slabs of ochre, white and grey. Tall bare and half-leafed trees rise on both sides against a soft blue sky broken by cumulus. The foreground is worked wet and loose with thick impasto ridges and palette-knife drags in umber, olive and yellow-green, while the distant field and hedgerow are handled thinly. Medium: oil on canvas. Signed lower right of the image, in red paint. Condition: Bright reflections across the glazing in several shots; the frame shows light rubbing on the corners. No tears or losses visible.
