About the Item

A bright, freely painted panorama of Prague: the arcaded Charles Bridge crosses the Vltava from the right, its piers reflected in choppy blue and grey water, while the Mala Strana roofs in terracotta lead up to the pale bulk of Prague Castle and the spires of St Vitus Cathedral. The sky is a wash of clean blue with dragged cloud, and the foliage is put in with quick dabs of sap green. Handling is loose and confident, with fine pen-like detail reserved for spires and arches. Medium: watercolour on paper. Condition: No visible issues; the picture is small within a very wide mat and the glass shows reflections.
