About the Item

A long horizontal pen and watercolour study in a restrained palette of slate blue, warm brown and rust. A shingle-roofed farmhouse, a white picket fence and a flowering tree sit behind a chestnut horse pulling a black buggy. Two pale blue discs behind the buildings read as sky or sun, and the whole scene is doubled in a soft reflection along the lower edge. Titled and signed in pencil on the sheet below the image. Medium: pen, ink and watercolour on paper. Signed lower right of the sheet, in pencil. Inscribed on the reverse or mount: pencil title along the lower edge of the sheet, not legible at this resolution. Condition: clean sheet, no visible foxing.
