About the Item

A sparse etching on cream paper: a standing figure drawn in tight coils of scribbled line, its head a dark scribbled cap, holds a red-orange spear toward a small striped animal, while a second figure in a red skirt with a yellow bow stands behind. A thin drawn horizon runs across the sheet and the rest is left bare. The only colour is the red of the spear and skirt and a touch of yellow; the impression sits inside a clean plate mark on heavy paper, pencil numbered at the lower left and signed at the lower right. Medium: etching with drypoint and hand colouring on paper. Signed pencil, lower right of the margin. Condition: Paper carries a light overall warm toning and a few faint handling marks; the plate mark is crisp. Strong reflections on the glazing. Frame sound.
