About the Item
A square canvas saturated in molten yellow and orange, worked with an extremely heavy granular impasto that catches light across the whole surface. A horizon band of crimson and maroon runs across the upper third, broken by quick dark-green and black calligraphic strokes suggesting distant boats, masts or trees. In the lower half two blunt oxblood-red vertical forms - a bollard and a pillar - anchor the composition, their shadows dragged forward into the orange ground. Handling is thick, dry and heavily loaded, applied with knife and stiff brush rather than blended. Medium: oil on canvas, heavy impasto. Signed lower right, on the orange ground beside the red pillar. Condition: no visible damage; impasto crests intact, no craquelure or losses seen. Some photographic glare off the raised paint.
