About the Item
A portrait-format canvas reproducing Van Gogh's Sunflowers: a two-tone vase, pale above and ochre below with a dark dividing line, holds a dozen sunflowers in every stage from full ray-flowered bloom to bare seed-head. The background is a pale duck-egg blue-green laid in short blocky strokes; the table is a slab of chrome yellow and orange. Painted entirely in thick directional brushwork, with the petals dragged outward in loaded strokes and the seed centres built up in knotted brown and umber. Medium: oil on canvas. Signed on the body of the vase, lower centre, in blue paint, reading "Vincent". Inscribed on the reverse or mount: Vincent. Condition: no visible issues; paint surface clean and intact, frame gilding unrubbed.
