About the Item

A square canvas of strong flat planes: a vermilion wall on the left, a slate-blue house on the right with a small yellow window, and between them a chrome-yellow doorway thrown wide, spilling a wedge of yellow light across the orange ground. Blue-grey steps and a rounded blue form occupy the lower left corner. The surface is worked in a coarse, sandy impasto that breaks each colour into speckled grain, with the divisions between planes cut in dark green and black. Medium: oil on canvas, heavy textured impasto. Signed lower right, on the orange ground. Condition: no visible issues; paint crust intact.
