About the Item
A tall, elegant Art Deco composition: a woman with a white marcelled coiffure and gold hair ornament stands with arms outstretched so that her ivory pleated robe opens into a great winged silhouette. The robe is finely ruled in vertical pleats and decorated with embossed-looking blossom clusters and pale mint bands; a turquoise and gold collar and a slim striped underdress run down the centre. She is flanked by two panels of dense black-and-white hairline stripes hung with pink iris stems, and a scrolling white smoke motif curls at her shoulder, all set against a matte black ground. Colour is flat and evenly laid with crisp line work, typical of a hand-pulled screenprint. Medium: serigraph (screenprint) on paper. Signed lower right of the sheet, in white pencil on the dark border. Edition: 83/300, hand-numbered in white pencil at lower left; hand-signed in white pencil at lower right. Inscribed on the reverse or mount: 83/300. Condition: heavy reflections and dust on the glazing in every shot; the sheet itself appears clean with no foxing or tears visible through the glass.
