About the Item
A wide decorative landscape reduced to bands: a glowing gold and amber sky fills the upper half, a row of eight rounded dark-green poplars marches along a thin cream horizon line, and below them broad sweeping fields of scarlet, crimson and burnt orange curve to the lower edge. There is no detail beyond the trees - the whole effect is of light and colour rather than place. The paint is applied in a heavy granular texture that catches the light like sandstone, with flecks of gold and cream scumbled over the red. Medium: acrylic with textured medium on canvas. Signed lower right of the canvas, in black over the red field. Condition: Textured surface is intact with no flaking visible. The frame's speckled finish shows minor rubbing at the corners.
